The fire department received the call at 9:15 am for the fire at 1429 Chestnut and arrived to find smoke but no flames visible. The house had heavy smoke and fire damage to the attic, moderate fire damage in the kitchen, and heavy smoke damage throughout the house.
The report states the house was vacant and the fire was reported to 911 by an off-duty firefighter.
The cause of the fire is undetermined. The fire crew was on the scene for 2 hours.
