The cost to feed your family will continue to rise this year, but the USDA says the rise will not be as steep. Matt MacLachlan, USDA economist says a rise of 1.5 to 2.5% is expected, rather than the 3.5% hike in each of the past two years. MacLachlan says beef will lead the increases.
He says in 2021, beef jumped 9.3% Pork was up 8.5% and poultry was near 5%.
MacLachlan says the price increases could be higher if you are eating out.
The USDA cautions many factors can impact food prices.
