Fire Kills 1 person and 1 pet in Chillicothe

Chillicothe Police are reporting that a 90-year-old resident and a dog expired in a Friday fire at 114 Henry Street.
According to Fire Chief Eric Reeter, Chillicothe firefighters were dispatched at 5:24 pm to a reported structure fire and upon arrival found flames showing from windows.
Firefighters began an interior search for possible occupants and initiated suppression efforts with hand lines.
The fire was controlled with two handlines and approximately 1200 gallons of water. The resident was located and transported to Hedrick Medical Center where they passed away.
The Missouri Division of Fire Safety was contacted to conduct the origin and cause investigation with assistance from the Chillicothe Fire and Police Departments.
