Lafayette’s Camden Bennett pumped in 22 points to lead the Irish to a 53 to 37 win over Chillicothe in Conference play.
Chillicothe led by one point after the first quarter, but it was all Lafayette after than, outscoring the Hornets in each of the final three quarters.
Coach Tim Cool said he saw plenty of good things from his Hornets team.
Griff Bonderer led Chillicothe with 11 points, James Mathew with 10, Jackson Trout and Landon Winder each with six, Chace Corbin with 3 and Alijah Hibner with 1. Seeing paying time was Carson Samm and Milo Costner. Normal starter Wyatt Brandsgaard did not play do to an injury.
The Lafayette win creates a three-way tie for first between Chillicothe, Benton and Lafayette. Chillicothe has two conference games remaining.
In a scheduling change due to the weather forecast, the Kirksville at Chillicothe basketball games have been moved to tonight (Wednesday) with JV games at 5:00pm – boys at the field house and girls at the high school gym. Girls varsity will be at 6:15 and boys varsity at 7:30.
