Governor Parson signed the Supplemental budget bill on Thursday. The bill provides additional funding in several areas, including for education, where $1.9 billion was approved for public schools and $219 million for student food programs.
Chillicothe R-II Superintendent Dr Dan Wiebers says Chillicothe will receive a portion of the funds.
The district anticipates receiving $3,444,987 in ESSER III funds, which will be used as part of the No Tax Increase Campaign to expand Chillicothe Elementary School.
The meal reimbursement funding is an estimate. Wiebers says it all depends on the number of students who eat meals during the year, but he is anticipating $855,440 for lunch and breakfast payments during the 2021-2022 school year.
