While winter still seems to have a grip on the KCHI listening area, we need to start thinking about Severe Weather, including Thunderstorms, Tornadoes, and Flooding.
This is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Missouri and National Weather Service Meteorologist Pamela Pietrycha says when severe weather is threatening, we need to know how we will receive watches and warnings for the area.
Sirens may also sound for severe weather. Those are meant to be heard when you are outside.
If you hear sirens, tune into your local source for severe weather coverage.
It is also important to know where you are, especially if you are traveling, so if you hear a warning, for certain counties, you will know if you are in the line of those storms and what action you need to take.
Tuesday is Tornado Awareness Day and a tornado drill will be held at 10:00 am. This will include sirens sounding and tones on your local media, including on KCHI.
