A house at 1555 Bryan was destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon. The fire department received the call of a porch fire at about 2:00 pm and responded with their ladder truck and arrived to find the house fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters began to attack the flames and a second engine was called to assist.
After about an hour the fire was controlled. Crews spent the rest of the time performing salvage and overhaul, putting out hot spots.
The State Fire Marshall was called in to perform an investigation and officially ruled smoking materials as the cause of ignition. Fire crews were on the scene for approximately 3 hours and used approximately 35,000 gallons of water.
