Two area drivers were injured in unrelated accidents investigated by the Missouri Highway Patrol over the weekend.
Saturday at about 12:30 pm in Gentry County, a Chula man, 25-year-old Christain S Nelson, had moderate injuries in an accident on 1st Street in Stanberry. According to the report, Nelson was riding a motorcycle southbound on Alanthus Street and was following a vehicle driven by 54-year-old Randall B Nester of Kansas City. Nelson struck the side of the Nester vehicle as Nester was attempting to make a turn. Nester was not injured. Nelson was taken to Grand River Regional Hospital.
Sunday at about 9:20 pm in Sullivan County, 20-year-old Jessica M Smalley of Hamilton was injured when she was southbound on Missouri Highway 5 near Milan and fell asleep. Her vehicle went off the road and struck the ditch, rolling onto its side, She was wearing a safety belt and had minor injuries. She was taken to the Sullivan County Hospital for treatment
