Trenton Firefighters responded to a house fire at 202 East 28th Street at about 7:00 pm Sunday. They arrived to find heavy smoke and flames visible at the rear of the home. Firefighters determined the fire started in the kitchen, but the cause of the fire is undetermined. No one was home when the fire call was received.
Two pets, a dog and rabbit, died in the fire. A cat was rescued and another dog was able to get out and a second cat was unaccounted for.
The fire crew was on the scene for about 2 hours.
