A Texas man was injured when the semi he was driving struck a guardrail and railroad bridge abutment Wednesday morning in Linn County. Sixty-eight-year-old Henry J Bowman of Texas was eastbound on US 36 at about 6:20 am and ran off the road. After striking the bridge abutment, he lost his load of hazardous liquid waste. Crews worked several hours to clean-up the spill and the road was reduced to a single eastbound lane. The lane restriction is still in place.
Bowman was taken to Pershing Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. He was wearing a safety belt.
A Florida man was arrested by State Troopers in Linn county Wednesday evening. Forty-seven-year-old Jason M Ranft of Hollywood, FL was arrested at 8:38 pm for alleged DWI and Speeding. He was processed and released.
