One person died in a series of three fires Tuesday morning in Polo. The Caldwell County Sheriff’s office is investigating the fires, including the fire that took the life of 96-year-old Lorene Fickess.
Caldwell County Sheriff Mitchell Allen says the death is being investigated as a homicide.
The first fire was reported at about 8:30 am Tuesday and over the next two hours, firefighters responded to two additional fires along the same road.
Sheriff Allen says witnesses spotted the same vehicle at each of the fires. Allen says they are looking for a black SUV with dark tinted windows, driven by a black male.
