The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has moved all of its detainees from the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail. They have been busy with this over the last few days.
Most of the male detainees are now in Caldwell County Jail with three men being held in the Harrison County Jail. The female detainees are being held in the Harrison County and Randolph County Jails.
All judges, commissioners, prosecutors, and defense attorneys have been notified. The Sheriff’s Office did not provide reasoning for the movement of the detainees. Presiding Livingston County Commissioner, Ed Douglas, gave the gist of the reasoning for the movement, but says there will be a closed meeting on Tuesday to discuss specifics when the Sheriff returns from conferences.
The Livingston County Jail closed back in 2012, and detainees have been held in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail since. This change marks the first time in a decade that subjects detained in Livingston County will not reside in the DDCRJ.
