Taxpayers that filed for an extension in April are reminded, the extension deadline is October 17th. While that seems like a ways off, The IRS urges those that are ready to file, to file as soon as possible.
The IRS says, taxpayers who haven’t filed, whether they requested an extension or not, should file a complete and accurate return earlier if possible. For people who have all their paperwork in hand, filing sooner and filing electronically could help them avoid possible processing delays later.
The IRS still has many resources available on its website. These include, but are not limited to, Interactive Tax Assistant, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program or VITA, IRS Free File, and payment options for those that still need to pay in.
