The Chillicothe Hornets Boys Soccer team took down Cameron 8-0 in the season opener on Tuesday night. James Matthew recorded his first career shutout in the net for the Hornets saving Cameron’s two shots on goal.
Head Coach Tim Cunningham touched on what he was satisfied with from his team after the game.
“Our guys played really well together tonight. We moved the ball well in the attack and took advantage of our opportunities. Six players scored the eight goals and we played 19 different players tonight. I was proud of the energy, enthusiasm, and focus the guys played with throughout the match.”
Sam Reeter and Wayatt Brandsgaard got their senior campaigns off to hot starts on Tuesday night, tallying five points a piece. Both of the forwards notched two goals and one assist to help the Hornets pull away for the 8-0 victory in the season opener.
Chillicothe is back in action on Thursday night when they host Marshall at 5 pm.
