Boys Soccer Uses Pair Of Hat Tricks To Capture 7-1 Win Over Benton

The Chillicothe High School Boys Soccer team took down Benton by a score of 7-1 on Tuesday night to even their MEC record at 3-3. Wyatt Brandsgaard and Jacob Adams tallied three goals a piece to each get their first hat tricks of the season.

Wyatt Brandsgaard got the scoring started in the 15th minute on a goal assisted by Charlie Reeter. Jacob Adams tacked on back-to-back goals in the 19th and 21st minutes assisted by Jackson Reeter and Jadon Collins to make it 3-0.

Benton responded after Samuel Bautista’s shot went off the crossbar and Christian Stewart found himself in the right place at the right time to tap it in and cut the lead down to 3-1.

Wyatt Brandsgaard scored his second goal of the night in the 27th minute assisted by Japhet Ojeaga to bring the halftime score to 4-1. Brandsgaard completed his hat trick in the 46th minute scoring off the assist from Sam Reeter to make it 5-1.

Jacob Adams completed his hat trick in the 60th minute scoring on the assist from Jackson Reeter to increase the lead to 6-1. Jackson Reeter got a goal of his own in the 62nd minute on the assist from Wyatt Brandsgaard to bring us to our final score of 7-1.

Carson Steele was in net all night for the Hornets, and he had five saves on six shots on goal.

Head Coach Tim Cunningham spoke about his team’s performance following the game. “A really good bounce back match for our guys tonight. We moved the ball really well through the midfield and finished on many of our opportunities. Hopefully this match will give us confidence going into the Moberly Tournament this weekend.”

The Hornets are back in action this weekend for the Moberly Tournament. They will take on MMA on Friday, and they will play Wright City and Moberly on Saturday.
