The Lady Hornets Tennis team traveled to Trenton for their second head-to-head dual with the Bulldogs and left with an 8-1 win as a team.
Coach Chambers was proud of the mental toughness her players showed as they approach post-season play next week.
“Even with chilly, overcast conditions and some early games lost, the team fought back, which is the type of play (I) know they will need late in the season. Cami Carpenter had another stunningly tough, close match versus Astrid Soriano, which Cami once again pulled out utilizing her consistent long-ball game.”
Carpenter and BeVelle beat Soriano and Leininger 8-6.
Washburn and Garr beat Voorhies and Hall 8-2.
Kieffer and Crowe beat Wright and Lee 9-7.
Carpenter beat Soriano 8-6.
Washburn beat Leininger 8-1.
Garr beat Voorhies 8-3.
BeVelle beat Hall 8-2.
Kieffer lost to Wright 4-8.
Crowe beat Lee 8-6.
In JV play, Boon and George had the comeback performance of the night after starting their Pro-6 match down 5-1. After a quick coach’s chat at the fence before what looked to be the final game, Sarah and Sarah battled back to win six straight games, winning 7-5.
Pfaff and Morgan played solid tennis winning their match 6-2. Shira and Thomas battled hard with some great shots and solid serving to win 7-5. Clark and Mathews handedly beat their opponents 6-0. England and Shafiq dropped a tough match 2-6. And Leppin got the chance to play some higher-ranked competition alongside Mathews, where they stepped up to the challenge and won 6-4.
