The Chillicothe R-II School District will need to ask the voters to approved an increase in the Operating Tax Levy, the question is when and how much. Superintendent Dr Roger Barnes says a Tax Levy on the ballot will be needed.
Barnes says the District has been working against the balances for the past eight years. He says the cost of doing business goes up each year and the district really has only a couple ways balance that expenses.
The School Board on Monday discussed increases of 50, 60 and 70 cents and what each would means. They will continue those discussions in December and if they chose to put a Levy Question on the April Ballot, they will need to file that by January 15th.
