An initiative from the Livingston County Health Center, Aging in Place, distributed over 150 LED Dusk-to-Dawn light bulbs to county residents sixty or better as part of their “Leave the Light On” project. Grand River Multipurpose Center partnered with the group to provide bulbs to their home bound meal clients, as well as those attending the congregate meal at the center.
This effort aims to light the entrances of people’s homes so emergency services can find them quickly. The bulbs–with a twenty year lifespan– also provide better lighting for fall prevention and a deterrent to crime.
Funding for today’s light bulb distribution was provided by the Mervyn Jenkins Foundation. The group is currently pursuing other grant opportunities to provide more light bulbs in the community.
