A public hearing for Chillicothe’s Community Development Block Grant demolition program will be held Monday morning. The public hearing is scheduled for 10:00 am in Council Chamber of City Hall.
The city is requesting citizens’ input on community development needs within the city. As part of the hearing process, citizens will be asked to verbally assist in the completion of a Needs Assessment document.
Activities that are eligible for funding include the improvements of Community Facilities, Demolition, General Infrastructure, and others allowed by law. At least 51% of the funds must be used to benefit low- and moderate-income people. NO displacement of persons is anticipated. The city is proposing to demolish dilapidated houses within city limits. The area to be addressed is bounded within the city limits of Chillicothe and the total project cost is estimated at $363,150.00. The city proposes to contribute up to $30,500 in cash, $22,650 in-kind labor by city crews, with grant funds of $310,000 needed to make up the balance.
Properties included in the proposal have already been determined.
