Deer hunters in Grundy County are encouraged to participate in an MDC program on Chronic Wasting Disease(CWD). In 2023, CWD was detected in Grundy County, raising concerns among local hunters and landowners. The Missouri Department of Conservation says properties within approximately two miles of the area where CWD was detected are classified as part of the Grundy CWD Core Area. They are encouraging landowners in that core area to participate in efforts to manage and slow the spread of CWD. They say the involvement of both hunters and landowners is crucial to protecting Missouri’s deer population from this disease.
The MDC will hold a public meeting for landowners in the Grundy CWD Core Area on September 4th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The meeting will be held at the Laredo School gymnasium.
