With salaries for Chillicothe elected officials set, filing for the April election will take place next month. The Chillicothe offices to be on the ballot include Mayor, Councilman-at-Large, the Council members for each of the four wards, City Auditor, City Clerk, City Treasurer, City Attorney, and City Constable. Each office is for a term of two (2) years.
This is a non-partisan election, so party affiliation is not part of the ballot.
Filing for City Offices is at the City Clerk’s office at City Hall. Filing opens at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10th, and continues until 5:00 pm on December 31st.
To file, there is a fee of $20 that can be paid by check or cash.
Section 105.250 Qualifications For Office.

- All candidates for any City office must possess the following qualifications:
- Be a resident of the City of Chillicothe for one (1) year next preceding their general election;
- Have attained the age of twenty-one (21) years of age prior to the date of their general election; and
- Be a registered voter at the time a declaration of candidacy is filed with the City Clerk or in the case of a write-in candidate where no declaration of candidacy is filed, by the date of the general election for which the person is a candidate.
- All candidates for Councilperson must be a registered voter of the Ward for which the person is a candidate for thirty (30) days prior to the time of filing a declaration of candidacy, or, if in the case of a write-in candidate where no declaration of candidacy is required, then for thirty (30) days prior to the general election for which the person is a candidate.
