The Chillicothe Lady Hornets basketball team remained undefeated with a 47-27 win over Trenton at home Friday night. Without Liz Oliver for the 2nd straight game, Chillicothe relied on their togetherness and tough defense.
In the first quarter, both offenses shined. The Lady Hornets attacked gaps in the Trenton zone scoring 21 points but the Lady Bulldogs had their highest scoring quarter also, and it was Chillicothe ahead 21-11. Both defense made the task more challenging for their opposition the rest of the way but the Lady Hornets slowly continued to create separation on the scoreboard. After a 12 point halftime lead, Chillicothe would go on to win by 20, 47-27.
Lyla Beetsma was Chillicothe’s top scorer, with 14 on the night, as she excelled slashing into the lane. Emerson Staton scored 13, controlling the low block on both sides of the floor.
The Lady Hornets are now 6-0 on the season while Trenton drops to 4-2. Chillicothe will host Macon next Tuesday.
