William T. “Bill” Wehrle, age 85, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Bill was born the son of Lyal and Frances (Blagg) Wehrle on August 29, 1939, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He received an Associate’s Degree from Central College in Pella, Iowa. He married the love of his life, Pat Schuler on July 13, 1991. He was employed with the Social Security Administration until retirement. He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, as well as Grand River Ducks Unlimited, the National Wild Turkey Federation, Quail Forever and the North Missouri Sportsman Alliance. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and his getting outside with his beloved dog. Bill was an outstanding story-teller, he had a long-running weekly column “Outdoors with Wehrle,” in the newspaper. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Bill is survived by his wife; three sons, Brett Wehrle (Dawn) of Marksville, Louisiana, Mark Schuler (Laura) of Chillicothe, Missouri and Brad Schuler of Chillicothe, Missouri; two daughters, Cindy Hofheins (Don) of Rolla, Missouri and Michelle Saale (Mark) of Kansas City, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, Alex, John, Sam, Grace and Seth Hofheins, Meagan and Samantha Saale, Carley and Allison Wehrle, Adelyn Schuler, Sarah, Gena and Ryan Schuler; seven great-grandchildren, Jacoby, Serena, Charlotte, Chloie, Ellie, Savanna and Raylee Branstetter; two sisters, Marla VanDee of Deep River, Iowa and Marcia Landuyt (Camiel) of Grinnell, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A cremation was held. A Celebration of Life will be held at Celebrations Event Hall, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Grand River Ducks Unlimited and/or North Missouri Wild Turkey Federation and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
