Julia L. Neal, age 85, of Brookfield, formerly of Linneus, passed away Monday January 6, 2025, at Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield.

 

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield with Pastor Rex Leppin officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Shafter.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  There will be an Order of the Eastern Star service held prior to visitation at 12:45 p.m.

Julia Lynette, daughter of Leland Ross and Julia Ida (McQuown) Burke, was born December 4, 1939, in Browning.  On March 24, 1957, she married James “Jim” Armin Neal, who preceded her in death on July 10, 2015.

 

Julia was a farm wife.  She worked several years at Esry’s grocery store and also volunteered her time with Pershing Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and North Central Missouri YMCA, all in Brookfield.

 

She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Shafter, Order of the Eastern Star, Park Baptist Church Sunshine Group and Park Baptist Piecemakers.

 

Survivors include one daughter, Carol Schreckhise and husband, Jerry of Linneus; two sons, Leroy Neal and wife, Jackie of Brookfield and Andy Neal and wife, Susie of Linneus; 12 grandchildren, Aaron Neal and wife, Leslie of Otterville, Shawn Neal and wife, Racheal of Linneus, Kelsey Lee and husband, Mac of Hamilton, Jayme Voss and husband, John of Savannah, Jana Sprague and husband, Nicholas of Brookfield, Emily Logan and husband, Scott of Spring Hill, KS, AJ Neal and Kim of Wheeling, Brett Neal and Devin of Meadville, Chris Neal and wife, Faith of Meadville, Brennen Neal of Linneus, Kaitlyn Dinwiddle and husband, Josh of Carrollton, Aaron Schreckhise and wife, Brooke of Meadville, and Amber Tornow and husband, Brad of Purdin; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; one brother, Terry Burke and wife, Bonnie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim Neal; one son, Roger Neal; and one granddaughter, Lesa Clevenger.
