The Chillicothe Lady Hornets met MEC opponent Cameron on Tuesday night. The Lady Hornets started slowly only scoring eight points in the first quarter, from there Chillicothe put on an offensive explosion, scoring 23 in the 2nd quarter and eclipsing 60 points in total for just the 3rd time this season.
Chillicothe’s strong 2nd quarter opened up a 15 point lead at the half and the Lady Hornets kept the foot on the gas. Bolstered by a big game from Lyla Beetsma, scoring a team high 18 points including two three-pointers the Lady Hornets pulled away for a 62-37 victory. Beetsma was one of five different players to knock down a three for Chillicothe. Coach Smith was able to get everyone involved as nine different Lady Hornets scored in the victory.
Chillicothe improves to 18-6 and 4-2 in the Midland Empire Conference. The Lady Hornets will take on Maryville on the road for the regular season finale on Thursday.
