Kerry Lyle Hoskins, 74, of Chillicothe, Missouri, formerly of Linneus, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on March 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family who were singing songs of praise.
Kerry was born February 22, 1951, in Brookfield, Missouri, the son of Kenneth James and Betty Lou Hoskins. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Elizabeth (Farrenkopf), his three children Amy (Lance) Faulkner of Chillicothe; Katie Myvett of Kansas City; and Daniel (Selena) Hoskins of Nashville, Tennessee and six grandchildren: Breigha Faulkner, Brynlee Faulkner, Kerrisa Myvett, Marcus Myvett, Reyna Myvett, and Elisha Hoskins.
He is also survived by his siblings Phillip (Terri) Hoskins, Steven (Linda) Hoskins, John (Conny) Hoskins, Kevin (Kathleen) Hoskins, Shari Hoskins, Lori (Donald) Cordonnier, Kathi (Danny) Tolly, Lisa (David) Burr, Tony (Lisa) Hoskins, Mary Beth (Jeff) Parks and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Richard and Sandra Hoskins, and sister Theresa Williams.
Following his high school graduation, Kerry worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad in Chicago, followed by Graybar Electric in Kansas City. He then came home and joined his father at Powell Motors, the family-owned business in Linneus, and remained there until its closure in 2009. He ended his professional career as an agent for Horizon Insurance.
Kerry’s abundant love for his family was evident to all who knew him. He was devoted to his wife and was a wonderful provider and protector. He taught his children to work hard but not to take themselves too seriously. He was fiercely proud of his grandchildren. He loved to laugh and sing. He was a man of great faith and spent his entire adult life mentoring, serving, and caring for all those God placed in his path. He was a trusted friend to many. Kerry served as a worship leader, deacon, elder, and Sunday school teacher in the local church. He saw the needs of those around him and quietly met them without any expectation of recognition.
A celebration of Kerry’s life will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Church in Chillicothe with Pastor Aaron Douglas and Pastor Stan Saunders officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A private family burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Linneus at a later date. The family will also receive friends Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield.
