Marcus Don Lent, age 53, a resident of Overland Park, Kansas and previously of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025, at Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas.

 

Marc was born the son of Jim and Pam (Branaum) Lent, on May 26, 1971. Marc graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1989, where he laid the foundations of a life that would be marked by strong family values and a deep sense of community. On May 17, 2014, Marc married Sara Birkhead in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives of the home.  His career led him to Olathe, Kansas  where he excelled as a Maintenance Supervisor at Sysco Foods for the past eight years.

 

Marc remained deeply connected to his roots in Chillicothe, where he was known for his ability to offer support and advice with a gentle, non-judgmental demeanor. His unique capacity to connect with people endeared him to many. His bond with his twin brother, Mike, was extraordinary, highlighted by the unique language they shared and the nicknames they created for everyone. An avid sports enthusiast, Marc enjoyed watching and playing all kinds of sports and delighted in the simple pleasure of board games, with Scrabble being his all-time favorite. He loved his family time at the lake in the summer. His love for the Kansas City Chiefs and Coca-Cola was evident in his vast collection of memorabilia. His charismatic spirit and quick wit made him a friend to many. He possessed an infectious enthusiasm for life, hosting evenings filled with laughter and love that will be dearly missed.

 

He is survived by his wife, Sara;  father, Jim, of Chillicothe, Missouri; one son, Keaton, of Overland Park, Kansas; a step-daughter, Annie Caswell, of Overland Park, Kansas; three brothers, Mitchell Lent of Kansas City, Missouri, Mike Lent and wife, Megan, of Chillicothe, Missouri and Matt Lent of Chillicothe, Missouri; one sister, Mandy Gaston and husband, Kevin, of Chillicothe, Missouri; several nieces and nephews, Emmy  (Mexico) Lent, Cooper (Senor Cooper) Lent, Tanner (Tan Man) Lent and fiance, Jentry Copple, Mallory (Moo-Moo) Gaston, Laney (Laney Bug) Gaston, and Lucy (Evil Roni) Gaston, all of Chillicothe, Missouri; and one great-nephew, Leighton (Gator) Gaston : his father -in-law, Jim Birkhead of Lenexa, Kansas  and his brother-in-law, John Birkhead of Weston, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pam Lent and his mother-in-law Mary Birkhead.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Chillicothe Parks and Recreation and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri, 64601.
