The Chillicothe Hornets and Lady Hornets track and field teams competed in the MEC meet in Maryville against the other seven conference schools.
The Chillicothe Hornets boys team was narrowly beaten out by the hosts Maryville for first place. Chillicothe totaled 161 points as a team, just a handful behind the Spoofhounds with 168. The Hornets racked up points in the relay races finishing first in the 4 x 100 with Hurtgen, Allen, Murrell and Midgyett. Chillicothe’s 4 x 400 team of Longo, Leppin, Thompson and Fitzpatrick also won first as did the 4 x 200 comprised of Midgyett, Murrell, Fitzpatrick and Allen. Other top finishes on the track for Chillicothe were Brennan Fitzpatrick 1st in the 400, Luke Thompson winning the 800, and Cain Evans first in the 3200. Soljier Allen in the 200, and Evans in the 1600 each finished 2nd. In the field events, Lake Englert was first in pole vault. A trio of Hornet athletes were 2nd in their event: Eli Hall in long jump, Jaydin Martin in javelin and Fitzpatrick in triple jump.
The Chillicothe Lady Hornets placed 5th amongst the 8 teams, with Maryville on top. Lydia Bonderer won the 800 meter, Emerson Staton was first in shot put and Tori Stoner came in first in javelin.
