Chillicothe Track & Field Sectional Qualifiers

The Chillicothe Hornets track and field team hosted the Class 3 District 8 meet at Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Both the boys and the girls teams had numerous sectional qualifiers and district champions.

 

For the boys, Soljier Allen was district champion in the 200 meter, Brennan Fitzpatrick was the champ in the 400, and Cain Evans won both the 1600 and 3200. Also qualifying for sectionals were Silas Midgyett in the 100, Luke Thompson in the 400 and 800, Elijah Hall in the long jump, Lake Englert in pole vault, Jayden Martin in javelin and Bo Smith in both discus and shot put.

 

The boys team also won three relays and qualified for sectionals in all four. The 4×100 with Allen, Hurtgen, Midgyett and Murrell, 4×200 featuring Allen, Fitzpatrick, Midgyett and Murrell, plus the 4×400 comprised of Fitzpatrick, Leppin, Longo and Thompson each won district while the 4×800 of Collins, Evans, Peterson and Thompson advanced. The 4×100 and 4×400 teams also set new school records in the process. As a team, Chillicothe tallied the most points of all 13 boys teams at district.

 

The Lady Hornets added to Chillicothe’s strong showing with four district champions and seven sectional qualifiers. Lydia Bonderer won the 800, Sadie Midgyett was first in discus, Tori Stoner was the javelin champ, and Emerson Staton had the top spot in shot put. Lexy Smith qualified in both the 200 and 400 and Ayana Johnson advanced in long jump.

 

These athletes who have qualified for sectional will compete on Saturday at Archie High School in an attempt to advance to the state meet.
