Chillicothe City Council Approved Demolition And Truck Purchase

The Chillicothe City Council approved action on two items from the finance portion of the meeting Monday.

The Council approved the bid for a Street Department pick-up at a cost of just under $28,700, about $14,000 under the budgeted amount for the truck.  The truck is purchased from Chillicothe Ford, the only bidder on the truck.  City Administrator Darin Chappell told the council that in order to get the pricing the order had to be placed by June 4th.  The Mayor signed off on the order pending the city council approval.

The demolition of the old CMU steam plant was awarded to Red Rock at a cost of $320,000.  Chillicothe Municipal Utilities received 11 bids ranging as high as $937,000.  The demolition work is expected to start around August first and be complete around the end of December.  The contract includes efforts to save the entry from the east end of the building and “Chillicothe Power Plant” from above the east end window.
