Livingston County Ballot Issue For August 5th Election

Livingston County Voters will consider one item on the August 5th ballot.  The ballot title is:

9-1-1 Central Dispatch Sales Tax Question.

The voters are asked to consider, Shall the county impose a county sales tax of 3/8th of a percent for the purpose of providing a central dispatching for emergency services.

Livingston County Presiding Commissioner Ed Douglas says if the item is approved by the voters, it would mean the 911 operations would not be dependent on city and county funding and oversight.

Would provide separate funding and oversight.

Douglas says a separate board would be appointed.

Appointed by the Commission at first, and later will be elected.

If approved, the 911 Dispatch operations would remain in the Chillicothe Police Facility.

Voters should educate themselves on the issue and cast their ballot as they feel is best.
