A second inning mistake was the difference in a Lawson baseball win over Chillicothe 1-0. After a scoreless first and second innings by Chillicothe, Lawson’s lead off batter picked up a double in the bottom of the second. The second batter for Lawson bunted and reached on a Chillicothe Error, scoring his team mate from second base.
Chillicothe had a chance in the fourth off a single and an error with no outs. However the next batters went three up, three down.
In the fifth Chillicothe started with a walk and a bunt, but the next batter grounded into a triple play.
In the sixth inning the Hornets started with a single and a hit by a pitch, but then struck out, was caught stealing and struck out.
Jaden Winder pitched two innings and Mason Baxter pitched four. They combined to allow one unearned run off two hits with nine strike outs and four walks.
On offense, the Hornets only managed two hits from Westley Brandsgaard and one from Winder. Brandsgaard also reached when he was hit by a pitch, Tucker Wagers had a sacrifice and Kam Ward reached on an error. Brandsgaard had two stolen bases and Ward had one.
