Marsh Fires No-Hitter as Lady Hornets Shut Out Lawson

It was a night to remember at Danner Park, as Landry Marsh tossed a complete game no-hitter to power the Chillicothe Lady Hornets softball team past Lawson, 2-0, on Thursday. The victory moved Chillicothe to 6-1 on the season.

Marsh was dominant in the circle, striking out nine, walking just one, and leaning on her defense to keep the no-hitter intact.

The Hornets plated both of their runs in the third inning. Marsh sparked the rally with a double into the left-center gap. Charley Peniston followed with a single, moving Marsh to third. Courtesy runner Macie Rodenberg then stole second; on the play, an errant throw allowed Marsh to score and Rodenberg to advance to third. Moments later, Maicee Albrecht lifted a sacrifice fly to left, bringing Rodenberg home for the second run.

At the plate, Peniston went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Marsh finished 1-for-2 with a double, a hit-by-pitch, and a run scored. Ellie Acree, Molly Kennebeck, and Ashlynn Daugherty each added singles as the Hornets collected six hits in the win.

Chillicothe returns to action Monday at Danner Park against Kirksville, with first pitch set for 5 p.m.
