Chillicothe Fire Fighters responded to a report of illegal burning at the Chillicothe Country Club Monday night. The call came in about 7:06 pm and the fire crew arrived to find a 400 square foot area of brush and logs burning. The Fire department had been at the scene earlier in the day and told the property’s maintenance man the area was too big and the fire could only be 5 foot by 5 foot. They were also told they could only burn items up to 2 inches and had to have a water source available at all times.
Chillicothe firefighters used about 10,000 gallons of water to put out the fire and removed some of the larger pieces. They also spread out the piles, which were still smoldering when the fire crew cleared the scene about an hour later.
Chillicothe Police Department was also on the scene for a report.
