The Chillicothe Police Department will add two new officers over the next few months. The Chillicothe City Council approved the action at Monday’s meeting, even though City Administrator Darin Chappell says it was not in the budget.
Chappell says the 2020 budget will include the two new officers. He says the second officer will be hired around the start of the fiscal year, of April 1st.
The council also approved creating a second detective position. Chappel says that position will be filled internally.
The city has not set a timeline for the detective position.
