Lady Hornets Battle Hard in First Loss of Season

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets volleyball team faced their toughest test of the young season Monday night, falling to Oak Grove in straight sets, 0-3 (20-25, 18-25, 9-25). The loss drops the Hornets to 3-1 overall.

Despite the setback, Chillicothe had strong individual performances. Emerson Staton led the Hornets with 10 kills and 9 digs, while Lyla Beetsma added 9 kills and a team-high 17 digs. Ava Leamer chipped in 7 kills and 11 digs, and setter Carman Woodworth distributed the offense with 19 assists.

Oak Grove also claimed the junior varsity contest 2-0 (25-9, 25-18), while Chillicothe’s C team fought back to earn a 2-1 victory (24-26, 25-22, 15-12).

The Lady Hornets will look to regroup and bounce back in their next match as they continue their early-season slate hosting the Chillicothe Tournament on Saturday.
