Four Lady Hornets Medal at Benton Tennis Tourney

On a blazing hot Friday, the CHS girls varsity tennis team competed in the Benton Tournament for over six hours. The morning started in all singles play based on ranked brackets for all nine teams. After those matches played out, the afternoon was spent in similarly ranked brackets with doubles pairs. After playing six or seven pro-6 matches each, four lady hornets went home with individual medals, and every player ended the day with a winning record. Junior Anya Moore and senior Rian Mathews actually snagged two medals each for both singles and doubles in their respective ranks. Coach Chambers was most excited that the team as a whole finished fourth out of nine schools since these were almost all schools in their district or conference. The lady hornets only fell to St. Pius, Maryville, and Savannah. Coach said, “This was a great first glimpse of where we stand in the MEC and postseason picture. We know what to expect from here on out, and we have a real shot to fight for our end of season goals.”
