Lady Hornets Blank Cameron in Key MEC Showdown

In a battle of the last two unbeaten teams in the Midland Empire Conference, the Chillicothe Lady Hornets rose to the occasion, defeating Cameron 6-0 on the road Tuesday night behind a dominant performance from Landry Marsh.

Marsh was sensational in the circle, throwing a one-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts and just one walk over seven innings. She faced only 23 batters, controlling the game from start to finish.

The Hornet offense provided plenty of support, pounding out 10 hits. Maddie Robinson sparked the lineup with a triple and three runs bated in, while Ellie Acree and Kenzie Fleener also delivered RBIs. Marsh also helped her own cause, going 2-for-4 with an run scored, while Hayden Hansen, Maicee Albrecht, and Jordan Foster added hits.

Chillicothe broke the game open in the fourth inning with three runs, then added insurance in the seventh. The win kept the Hornets unbeaten in MEC play and handed Cameron its first conference loss.

The Lady Hornets (11-3, 2-0 MEC) will look to build on their momentum as they continue conference play at Danner Park later this week hosting Savannah on Thursday.
