During a beautiful morning this Friday, the top-ranked JV athletes for the CHS girls’ tennis team competed in the annual North Kansas City JV tournament. The morning was spent in ranked doubles’ brackets where everyone was guaranteed three full matches. Coach Chambers sends her up-and-coming athletes to this event each year to help them build stamina and expectations as they continue to work up towards varsity competition someday. Plus, it gives each athlete a chance to really compete at her corresponding level.
Junior Leighton Kelly and freshman Isabel Nagel played in the Doubles A bracket while senior Helena England and sophomore Rylee Rempel competed in the Doubles B bracket. Finally, senior Arisha Shafiq and sophomore Mackenzie Bagley paired up in the Doubles C bracket. At the Macken Park tourney, North KC High School hosted eight total schools in each bracket.
