A Fall Color Tour and a couple of Halloween events are planned at Crowder State Park near Trenton.
Park Staff will hold a Fall Color Bus Tour on Saturday, October 18th, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The tour will begin at the equestrian parking lot for a bus tour to the Thompson cemetery and the Thompson house. As part of the tour, staff will discuss the fall foliage that can be seen and the Friends of the Thompson House will be at the house discussing their recent projects.
These tours are free and open to the public. The bus will leave the equestrian lot approximately every 30 minutes.
Halloween Event will be hosted by Crowder State Park, in collaboration with Friends of the Thompson House. The fun evening of Halloween activities on Saturday, October 25th, at 6:00 pm. They will start with a guided hike from the equestrian parking lot to the Thompson House. Once at the Thompson House, participants will get to enjoy snacks, games, crafts, and a campfire storytelling program. Then, at the end of the night, park staff will lead a spooky night hike back to the parking lot. Everyone is encouraged to bring a flashlight.
Crowder State Park is also hosting Halloween Trail Run on October 25th at 8:00 am. This will include a 1-mile fun run on the group camp trail, a 5K on Tall Oaks Trail, a 10K on Tall Oaks and Redbud trails, and a marathon on every section of trail in the park. There will also be a costume contest for all who participate in one of the runs. Each run will begin at 8 a.m., directly after the costume contest.
Snacks and water will be available and medals will be given to the top three female and male finishers in each age group (18 and younger, 19-59, and 60 and over) in each distance. Awards will also be given for the top three places in the costume contest.
Online registration is required for the run and must be completed by Oct. 20. The cost is $25 per person.
