Sentencing was handed down for a Gallatin man who pleaded guilty to crop insurance fraud. Steven A. McBee entered a guilty plea last November in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, admitting to engaging in fraudulent activity from 2018 to 2020 that caused an economic loss to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The government claimed total losses of just over $4 million.
McBee is sentenced to 24 months in prison and is ordered to pay $4 million in restitution to the USDA – Risk Management Agency.
In addition, McBee will have two years of supervised release after he completes his prison term..
