The Chillicothe Lady Hornets softball team defeated Macon in the Class 3 Final Four from Springfield 9-3 Friday afternoon after a hot start from the plate. The Lady Hornets scored three runs in the first inning highlighted by an Ashlynn Daugherty two RBI double.
All the bats were on fire early for Chillicothe, including Maicee Albrecht who had an RBI in each of the first three innings. The Lady Hornets added two runs in the 2nd and scored four times in the third to go up 9-0.
Defensively, Landry Marsh was lights out for Chillicothe striking out 10 batters in a complete game pitching. Macon was shutout until the 6th inning where the Tigerettes scored three runs to cut into the deficit.
Chillicothe closed out the game in the 7th inning to win 9-3 and advance to the state championship game against Doniphan today. First pitch will be at 12:15 airing live on KCHI.
