Marceline Bond Issue On Linn & Chariton County Ballots

Marceline voters in Linn and Chariton Counties will consider a Bond Issue in Tuesday’s election.  This is the only item on the ballot in the area counties.

The City of Marceline is asking voters to consider a $30 million Waterworks and Sewage System revenue bond.  The official ballot language says this is for the “purpose of extending and improving the combined waterworks and sewerage system of the City, including acquiring land and rights of way, the cost of operation and maintenance of said combined waterworks and sewerage system and the principal of and interest on said revenue bonds to be payable solely from the revenues derived by the City from the operation of its combined waterworks and sewerage system, including all future improvements and extensions thereto?”

The City notes that the DNR has indicated that extensive work will be required on its sewer system.

They also say there is No Tax Increase associated with this bond, and that repayment will only be on the amount borrowed, and they may be repaid with user rates only.

The Marceline Bond Question will be on ballots in Linn and Chariton Counties.
