In an effort to better serve community members with disabilities, the Chillicothe Police Department, Livingston County Health Center, and New Horizons have partnered to participate in a Public Safety Special Needs Registry. Police Chief John Maples says this will help emergency services when responding to calls involving people with cognitive issues, dementia, autism, and other disabilities in children and adults.
Provide information when responding to calls involving those with disabilities.
The registry is a national network called NPS-AID. It is a 100% voluntary program, providing public safety officials with the needed resources to better assist community members with disabilities or special needs during an encounter or interaction. Chief Maples says a local registration event will be held on November 22nd.
At the Livingston County Health Center from Noon until 2:00 pm.
Maples says access to the information is limited. You or your caregiver can access your information, and only registered community agencies can access the information.
If you would like to register online, go to nps-aid.org. If you would like more information, contact the Livingston County Health Center at 660-646-5506, New Horizons at 660-646-1513, or the Chillicothe Police Department at 660-646-2121.
