The holidays are a time that includes more shopping and spending on others, but Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples says it is also when they see an uptick in theft and stealing.

The Chillicothe Police Department is proactive and works towards prevention.

Chief Maples offered suggestions to protect ourselves and our purchases.

Lock your vehicle, hide or cover your purchases.

He says don’t make it easy for them to see what you have.

He also says if you see someone hanging around that shouldn’t be, report it.
