The Livingston County Commission will file two property tax-related items on the April Election ballot. Presiding Commissioner Ed Douglas says the first effects seniors 62 and older.
Senate Bill 190 to freeze their property taxes.
If passed, Douglas says the residents would need to request this each year.
The second item is related to a stadium bill approved by the legislature.
Would cap any increase at 5%.
Duglas says that the issue, even if passed in the election, faces court challenges and could be found unconstitutional.
The deadline for the county to add items to the April Ballot is January 27th.
