Chillicothe Municipal Utilities is hoping to put its Unit 1, Twin Turbine Electric Generating Unit, back online very soon. CMU Operations Manager Casey Johnson says they have been making repairs to the generating unit for the past several months and are in the final stages of reassembly.
Installing the exhaust stack and fuel skid before testing next week.
Because the unit has been offline since March of 2020, Johnson explained, there is quite a bit of testing required.
The testing is expected to take from a couple of days to all week, and they will have necessary technicians on site for repairs or adjustments as needed.
The goal is to put the Unit 1 Generator back on-line March 1st, providing power to the local grid and to their power partner, MoPEP.
