A Fire Call on Saturday in Chillicothe was for a grass fire near a structure on West Mohawk. The call came in at about 2:55 pm and firefighters arrived in five minutes to find fire getting close to a building and into the timber. A brush UTV and pumper were used to put out the fire using 1,500 gallons of water. They were on the scene for just over an hour.
A report of a car and structure fire in Trenton summoned Trenton Firefighters on Sunday at about 12:49 am to 1004 Laclede. The crews arrived to find two cars fully involved and a house 75% involved. Several departments were called to assist with the fire, including Grundy County Rural Fire and the Chillicothe Fire Department. City crews were also called to the scene to assist.
Embers from the first home spread to a second house, resulting in fire in the attic and smoke and fire damage inside and out.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshall’s Office. The crews were on the scene for about seven and a half hours.
