Class 1-3 District basketball championships were contested across the state over the weekend. Below are results that feature local area teams.
In Girls Class 1 Basketball: Grundy County defeated Meadville 44-39 in district 12, Norborne beat Hardin-Central 48-44 for district 13, and in district 14 Gilman City prevailed over Princeton 33-25.
Tonight, Grundy County faces North Shelby, and Norborne takes on Gilman City in the sectional round.
In Class 3 District 16, South Harrison narrowly advanced against Lawson 43-42. South Harrison and Bishop Leblond square off tonight in the Class 3 girls sectionals.
In boys basketball, Braymer won the Class 1 District 13 championship with a 46-36 victory over Orrick. In District 12, Brunswick beat Meadville 76-37, and in District 14 Princeton took down Pattonsburg 56-47.
On Tuesday, Braymer will face Princeton, and Brunswick matches up against Green City in the Class 1 sectionals.
Class 2 District 16 was won by Penney 66-63 over West Nodaway, the Penney Hamilton Hornets will face Wellington-Napoleon in the sectional round Tuesday.
In Class 3, South Harrison beat Carrollton in the district 16 championship. South Harrison’s sectional opponent on Tuesday is North Platte.
