Chillicothe PD Interested In SRO Program

There could be changes to the School Resource Officer program in the Chillicothe R-II School District.  Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples told the City Council that he is interested in his department taking over the SRO program.

This is a program that is not currently in the city’s budget; the staffing is two full-time and one half-time position.

The department would need to look at current equipment, including radios and vehicles. Expenses would include needed equipment, training, and personnel.

The Chillicothe City Council was unable to take any votes in the workshop session where the SRO program was presented, but they did give a consensus to move forward in exploring the program with the school district.
